Field(s) of education and training (ISCED-F)

  • Training for pre-school teachers (0112)

Main focus

The purpose of the Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education is to train professionals who are able to provide educational attention to children in both cycles of preschool education, and who are able to formulate and monitor the pedagogic proposal stated in Article 14 of Organic Law 2/2006 on Education (3 May 2006) and Article 43 of Law 17/2007 on Education in Andalusia.
Students in this degree programme will acquire solid personalized training that qualifies them as preschool teachers in today’s knowledge society in relation to the different areas and tasks of this profession. Broadly speaking, according to the White Paper on Teaching (2005), this signifies that preschool teachers will organise the interaction of each pupil with the object of knowledge. In other words, they will act as mediators so that teaching and learning activities are significant and stimulate the developmental potential of each pupil in cooperative group work. Degree holders will be able to design and organise intra- and interdisciplinary work, and collaborate with society outside the school. They will be able to analyse the context of their professional activity and plan it so that it is in consonance with an ever-changing society. They will be able to act as tutors and evaluate what pupils have learned. Furthermore, they will foment the critical spirit necessary to apply the knowledge acquired to different areas and professional contexts. Finally, graduates of this degree programme will promote respect of basic rights and equal opportunity, the universal accessibility for handicapped people, and the values of a culture based on peace and democratic values.

Competences

They will also know how to use different techniques of expression.
7. Know and reflect on the educational implications of information and communication technologies, especially, television in early childhood.
